The official domain

The address of this site ends in odersa.org. Every service the association runs sits on a subdomain of odersa.org and nowhere else. If the address in your browser’s address bar does not end in odersa.org, this site is not ours.

Free, and no account

Everything is open straight away. No sign-up, no account, no password, no subscription, no advertising. Nothing is held back for those who pay, because there is nothing to pay for.

No data collected

This site does not follow you: no tracker, no tracking cookie, no measurement tool built into these pages, and nothing measured on your device. Our host counts requests in aggregate, as any server that answers does: a total, never a profile. You do not have to take our word for it: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and reload the page. You will see the full list of what the site asks for. Everything comes from odersa.org, nothing goes anywhere else.

Free to reuse

The content is published under the CC BY 4.0 licence. You may copy it, translate it, print it and pass it on, for your classes as much as for the people around you, on one condition only: credit ODERSA.

Official redress

Real redress, in order

Three steps: your fund from abroad, the contact point before further care, your insurer once home.

General information, not legal advice on your case. Every remedy has a time limit, often set by national rules: act early, and check the limit that applies to your case before you wait.

  1. Your health insurer, from abroad

As soon as the card is missing

Call your insurer as soon as the card is missing: the official page indicates it might send you the Provisional Replacement Certificate by email, including when the card is lost or stolen abroad, and the treatment desk can itself contact it. The official card page, published by the European Commission, gives the procedure country by country.

  2. The national contact point, before further care

    Before the next care

To find out before getting treated whether reimbursement is possible and whether it is capped, turn to the national contact point of the country concerned: there is at least one in every EU country, and the official portal describes its role.

Unplanned healthcare: payments and reimbursements (Your Europe, European Union)

  3. Your insurer, once home, documents attached

    Once home

File the reimbursement claim with the itemised invoice, the receipt and the care report, knowing the two written limits: treatments covered at home, up to the cost at home. And if a public body in another EU country blocks the application of your rights, the European Commission's SOLVIT network handles that kind of cross-border problem.

The exact amount reimbursed depends on the basket and rates of your country of affiliation: this site details no national scale, it presents the European baseline common to the twenty-seven.
