Official redress

Real redress, in order

Three steps: the university first, the registration counter next, the Commission's network if a public body blocks.

Law as verified onJuly 29, 2026

File EU 2004/38

  1. The university's enrolment office

As soon as the fee notice arrives

For a wrong fee classification or inflated fees, request the correction in writing, attaching the official page: the same course fees as the country's nationals, and the same grants to cover those fees.

  2. The registration authority, official list in hand

    Beyond three months

Beyond three months, present the three documents provided for and the resources declaration without an amount. The official page on students' residence rights sums up the conditions, the documents and the certificate you must receive.

  3. SOLVIT, if a public body persists

    If things stall

Course fees inflated by a public university, registration refused despite the documents, demands beyond the list: the European Commission's SOLVIT network handles cross-border problems with public administrations of another EU country.
